Home decor is personal. It should reflect your taste, style and interests. This year, flower arrangements are making a comeback as a popular way to add a personal touch to your home. Bouquets are quickly becoming part of everyday decor in today’s homes.
The resurgence of flower arranging can be attributed to rising popularity of shows like The Crown and Bridgerton, which feature beautiful floral displays throughout the homes of their characters. People are also becoming more interested in adding personal touches to their homes.
If you’re thinking of incorporating floral designs into your home decor, here are five tips to get you started:

Tip #1: Supplies You Need to Get Started
You’ll need a few supplies to get started. Begin by finding a vase or container. Make sure to choose a vessel that compliments the style of your home. Surprising and unique containers like antique pitchers, teapots or even mason jars can make great flower holders.
Next, you’ll need flower frogs or similar devices to keep your blooms in place. Flower frogs are small pieces of metal or ceramic that have a series of holes for holding flower stems. Check out our ceramic flower frog toppers here.
Also, a great pair of sharp garden scissors necessary so that you don’t smash the stems when cutting them. Our favorite scissors are the Barebones Garden Scissors that can be found here
Finally, you’ll need some fresh flowers!

Tip #2: Choosing the Right Flowers
When it comes to flower arranging, the most important thing is to choose the right flowers for your arrangement. This can seem like a huge task, but there are a few things you can keep in mind that will help you choose the perfect accents for your home.
First, consider is the overall style of your home. If you have a more traditional style, then you might want to choose blossoms that are classic and elegant like roses or lilies. On the other hand, if your home has a more modern aesthetic, then you can get away with choosing brighter and more playful display like wildflowers or succulents. And if you’re really feeling creative, you can even use fruit or vegetables as part of your design.
Another thing to think about is the season. seasonal blooms will be fresher and usually cheaper than those that are out of season. Of course, you can always find beautiful flowers year-round, but if you’re looking to save some money, then stick to seasonal blooms.
Tip #3: How to Arrange Your Flowers
Arrangements in a vase using a flower frog holder can be easy with the right tools! Start by filling your container with water. Then choose a flower frog for your vase.

Helpful Hint: We recommend ceramic flower toppers since they don’t have any metal that could potentially rust. Another idea is to use a criss-cross pattern of tape on your vase, but this can leave a sticky residue that can be difficult to remove from your container and your blooms can easily get stuck to the tape. Next, start adding your flowers. Begin with the largest blossom first and work your way around the vase, adding smaller buds as you go. The key to a great display is balance. You want to create a bouquet that is visually pleasing and looks effortless. A good way to achieve balance is to use the ‘Rule of Three.’ This rule states that odd numbers are more visually appealing than even numbers. So, when in doubt, go for an odd number of flowers. For example, when choosing your stems, choose 3 peonies, 5 carnations and 3 ferns.
You can also achieve this type of balance with a set of three vases like our house bud vases below.

When you have created a bouquet to your liking, it’s time to add the finishing touches. Use greenery to fill in any empty spaces
Once everything is in place, use your scissors to trim the stems so that they are all the same length.
Tip #4: Making your flowers last longer
To make your bouquets last longer, start by removing any wilted or dead buds or leaves from your vase as soon as possible. Re-cut the stems at an angle every few days to help them absorb more water. This will help prolong the life of your flowers.
Also, avoid any DIY plant food. The sugar in the recipes often promotes bacterial growth and causes a film on the stems. Instead, focus on the temperature of the water that you place your stems in. It’s also important that the water is warm (not cold or hot)
Finally, keep your arrangements out of direct sunlight and away from drafts. This will help them stay fresh for longer.
